(Keystone-ATS) A monitoring round is currently being carried out in the village, Albula municipality spokesperson Christian Gartmann told Keystone-ATS. Once this last check has been carried out, the municipality will officially communicate on the complete evacuation of Brienz.
The control is carried out by representatives of the firefighters, the police, the municipal authorities as well as the cantonal office of military affairs and civil protection. They must ensure that the approximately 80 residents have all left the area and that no one is left in the danger zone.
The two access roads to Brienz are now blocked. The fate of the village threatened by a new landslide is not clear. He should be cut off from the world at least until next spring.
