Five world leaders are vying for the construction of the electric highway to connect Dakhla and Casablanca, announced the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE).
Indeed, on Friday, the Office opened the application files relating to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) plan for the construction of the strategic 3 GW very high voltage electrical line project between the South and the Center of the Kingdom.

As part of the call for expressions of interest and pre-qualification relating to this project, five of the world’s largest manufacturers of direct current electrical lines and substations have submitted their applications: GE Vernova (USA), Siemens Energy (Germany), Power China Sepco1 (China), TBEA (China) and Larsen & Tourbo (India).
The selected EPC builder should take care of the design, construction and commissioning of the project under a turnkey construction contract, as well as some aspects of maintenance under a maintenance contract. long term (LTSA), concludes the press release.

The project, which should supply the future water desalination plant in Casablanca, will be carried out in two phases. The first concerns a capacity of 1,500 MW to be put into service as quickly as possible (to be set when the call for tenders is issued). The second phase concerns a similar capacity to be commissioned in 2029.
