Big move in Charleroi: 400 patients transported to a new hospital, 1,000 beds moved

Big move in the Charleroi region this Saturday: several hundred patients will be transported from the site of the Grand Hôpital de Charleroi to settle in Gilly.

A big move is taking place this morning in Charleroi. Indeed, the transfer of more than 400 patients from the Grand Hôpital de Charleroi begins: five clinics are merging to set up in the brand new “Les Viviers” site, in Gilly.

Several hundred patients will be transferred to this new establishment. The transfer of equipment began several days ago and each operation must be coordinated to guarantee good patient care.

Around forty trucks have been mobilized for several days to transport around 7,500 cubic meters of equipment, in particular refrigerators which contain medicines.

With more than 1,000 beds and 26 operating rooms, movers have a lot of work. “There is everything: some light things, some heavier ones. These are very expensive machines, which is why we have deployed a large team“, explains Jawad.
