Spanish investors explore the region’s agro-industrial potential

Tangier welcomed a high-level Spanish delegation, specializing in the red and white meat and dairy sectors, for a business meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and stimulating investments in the Moroccan agri-food sector. This event, organized jointly by the Regional Investment Center of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (CRI-TTA), the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM TTA) and the Morocco Spain Economic Council (CEMAES), allowed participants to seize the opportunities of a growing sector.

The meeting brought together nearly 50 Moroccan and Spanish experts and business leaders around workshops and round tables, with the aim of exploring the potential of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region as an agro-industrial hub. Discussions highlighted tax benefits and specific incentives for foreign investors in the meat and dairy sectors, highlighting the region’s potential as a preferred destination for international businesses.

The TTA region benefits from modern infrastructure and attractive support systems which promote investments in the agri-food sectors, crucial for the country’s food security and for the creation of local jobs. This incentive environment is supported by a competitive territorial offer and adapted taxation, assets presented by representatives of Moroccan public institutions during the panels.

Regulation and support for sustainable investment

In addition to tax benefits, the meeting also discussed the latest developments in regulations, particularly those related to food safety and product quality. Moroccan representatives presented the support and financing mechanisms put in place to encourage sustainable practices and strengthen the competitiveness of businesses in the agro-industrial sector. These programs aim to attract responsible investments and promote sustainable growth.

A central part of this meeting was devoted to networking sessions and B2B meetings between Moroccan and Spanish companies. These exchanges allowed players in the sector to establish direct links and consider concrete partnerships. Joint projects, particularly in the processing of dairy and meat products, have been initiated with the aim of consolidating value chains and accelerating economic integration between the two countries.

A promising future for agribusiness

Spanish companies expressed particular interest in export potential, while their Moroccan counterparts saw in these collaborations an opportunity to acquire technical know-how and benefit from skills transfers. This dynamic strengthens the bilateral trade and industrial relationship, supporting the development of a more resilient and integrated agri-food industry in both countries.

This business meeting marks an important milestone in the partnership between Morocco and Spain. It is part of a strategy to promote the TTA region as a leading agri-food hub and strengthens economic relations between the two countries. Cooperation in the meat and dairy sectors represents a significant step forward for the Moroccan economy, offering new prospects for a booming sector, crucial for food security and regional development.

By encouraging sustainable investments and promoting innovation, this initiative paves the way for a modernized Moroccan agro-industry that is open to the international market, with robust growth prospects. Moroccan and Spanish companies are thus entering into a promising strategic partnership, auguring strengthened cooperation for years to come.
