Arab, Islamic Summit calls for freezing Israel’s UN membership

Leaders at an Arab and Islamic summit have called for pressure to freeze Israel’s membership in the United Nations.

The call comes as Israeli military actions continue in Gaza and Lebanon, attacks that are fueling tensions in the Middle East.

The summit, held in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, aimed to put an end to it.

“There is a paragraph in this text that I find very important and vital, a paragraph that talks about going to the General Assembly to freeze Israel’s membership. It’s a step, I mean, I don’t know if I’m exaggerating, it’s an important step in the search for reparation. If Israel had obtained the right to be a member of the General Assembly in 1949 through resolution 181. Today, the Islamic group and the Arab group are two organizations that are moving forward before the international community, and I am convinced that many countries will support the idea of freezing membership. “, said Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has reaffirmed the commitment of Arab and Islamic nations to work towards a de-escalation of the situation and a two-state solution.

In addition to the UN’s demand for action, the summit’s final declaration calls on all countries to cease the export or transfer of arms and munitions to Israel.
