The rate of medium and long-term absenteeism continued to increase in the first half of 2024, according to a study by HR service provider Securex relayed Thursday by L’Echo, L’Avenir and La Derniere Heure.

During this period, 2.53% of workers were absent for medium-term illness (one month to one year) and 3.36% for long-term illness (more than a year), on an average working day.

Among young workers (25-34 years old), we note an increase in medium-term absenteeism of 26% compared to 2022. The increase climbs to 42% regarding thelong-term absenteeism.

The upward trend in medium and long-term absences is confirmed both on the side of employees, with increases of 10 and 7% to reach a record, and on the side of workers, where we note increases of respectively 11 and 9%.
