The 44th edition of the world tourism fair, the World Travel Market (WTM) which was held in London from November 5 to 7, 2024, saw the participation of a strong delegation from Marrakech, made up of tourism professionals; representatives of professional associations, hoteliers, agents, travel agents, restaurateurs, etc., as well as representatives of the Marrakech-Safi Region Council. Marrakech was in the spotlight at the Morocco stand.
New flights and MICE perspectives
With the development of air connections reinforced by the recent direct connections operated by Jet2 and Ryanair from Manchester, Bristol and Newcastle, the WTM show was an opportunity to further promote the Marrakech and Region destination to the British market and more particularly the segment MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions), given the growing demand from British customers for this segment, especially since Marrakech positions itself as a destination of excellence thanks to the expertise of professionals and a diverse offering of modern and authentic infrastructures, the city offers a unique and ideal setting for hosting large-scale events.
The British market, a growing market for Marrakech and its region
The UK remains an important market for Marrakech, positioning itself as the third largest market for the destination after domestic visitors and the French market.
During the period from January to September 2024, the British market experienced an increase of 34% for overnight stays and 39% for arrivals compared to the same period in 2023.
