This Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court examined a case involving Bah Diakhaté, an activist linked to the APR party, and Colonel Abdourahim Kébé. According to The Echoesthe case did not result in a conviction, Diakhaté having benefited from the amnesty law in force, initiated by former president Macky Sall. Bah Diakhate is therefore the first person close to the former power to have formally benefited from this amnesty law.
The activist, absent from the hearing, is currently out of the country, according to his lawyer, Me Cheikh Khoureyssi Bâ.
This is not the first time that Diakhate finds himself before the courts. During a previous case for disseminating false information in May, also involving Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, he had already received three months in prison, a sentence which he served.
While in detention, Diakhate was transferred from his cell to the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) to face another charge. This time, it was a complaint from Ababacar Mboup, former coordinator of “And Samm Jikko Yi”, who accused him of defamation and dissemination of false news.
