A tragedy shakes the community of Joal. MB. B. Dièye, a well-known trader at the central market, is at the center of a serious affair that is making headlines. Accused by a 17-year-old schoolgirl, L. Diagne, of sexual abuse in a hotel in Saly Portudal, the merchant finds himself in the spotlight of the justice system and the press.

According to information reported by L’Observateur, the accused would have maintained a romantic relationship with the young student, promising her many wonders, including a future union. Events took a tragic turn when he allegedly, under the pretext of introducing her to an alleged aunt, took the minor to a hotel, where she was forced to have sexual relations, despite her repeated refusals.

After the incident, the girl began to experience severe pain, which aroused her mother’s suspicions. During interrogation, she revealed the truth about this secret relationship and the alleged assault. Taken to the Thierno Mouhamadou Mansour Barro hospital in Mbour, a medical examination confirmed intimate injuries, reinforcing the accusations against the trader.

MB. B. Dièye, during his arrest, completely denied these accusations, claiming to have only kissed the young girl. Nevertheless, the chilling details provided by L. Diagne and the medical evidence led the Joal gendarmerie to refer him to the Mbour public prosecutor’s office, where a committal warrant was issued against him.

This affair, closely followed by the population of Joal, leaves no one indifferent. Many are waiting for what happens next, hoping that justice will be done for the young victim. Once again, the question of the protection of minors and sanctions against the alleged perpetrators of such acts is raised, mobilizing both the press and citizens.
