This week, the flow shifts to the northern sector and the temperatures drop to fall a little below seasonal norms: we will be treated to a first cold snap, quite classic for mid-November.

France stuck between an anticyclone and a cold drop
Benefiting until then from an anticyclone of subtropical origin with mild air at altitude, France passes into a northerly flow from Tuesday. Colder air is arriving in the country from the east, linked to a cold drop (-30°C at 5000 m), coming from Germany which crosses France during the day before isolating itself in Spain on Wednesday.

Return to temperatures below seasonal norms
With the direction of the wind to the North and the lifting of the north wind, the values will fall below seasonal norms. The drop will be more marked in the south, where mild weather still dominates this Monday, than in the north. Thus, maximum temperatures will lose 4 to 8°C on average in the southern half, but only 2°C in the northeast. It will even become quite cold from the northeast to the center-east under the breeze in the middle of the week.

A risk of snow in the mountains and at low altitude?
The weather becomes unstable on Tuesday, linked to the cold drop circulating from Germany to Spain. With the drop in temperatures and humidity, snow will appear on the eastern reliefs at fairly low altitudes, which is certainly good news a few weeks before the Christmas holidays. But, these snowfalls will be in the form of showers and will not be significant. For the moment, no major snow damage is expected in our mountains.
