Appearance of the packaging: as a reference brand, we therefore took Chavroux, the essential aperitif. So essential that all brands have adopted the same triangular shape, to be turned over to serve and dip the chips. Overall, everything was really copying the big brand, except Lidl, but it wasn’t successful.

Product appearance: the big brand offered the firmest cheese, which did not break down at all when turned. It was also very good for Carrefour, Colruyt and Delhaize, Intermarché. Aldi too, but it smelled almost nothing… Well, it was too runny for Lidl.

Nutritional value : Nutri-Score C for everyone, except Lidl, D.

Label readability: this time, it is the big brand which acts as a bad student, with a label that is much too small. For the rest, it was OK, especially given the limited space available.

Taste : it is for this criterion that the difference was really made. The worst student is Lidl. The texture was really unpleasant, with a very salty taste and we were looking for the taste of goat’s cheese… It wasn’t any better for Colruyt. For Aldi it was ok, but it really lacked taste. Anyone who likes goat cheese should not choose it. The big brand remains the benchmark for this product, but competition is tough with Carrefour (especially), Delhaize and Intermarché.

Value for money: you need to count around one euro more for a Chavroux triangle (€2.65) compared to the others (between €1.59 and €1.69).
