The government media office in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday the deaths of 4 new journalists, bringing the death toll to 188 journalists killed during the Israeli genocide unleashed since October 7, 2023.
The media office spoke in a statement noting an “increase in the number of journalist martyrs to 188, since the start of the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, after the death of 4 new journalists.”
The journalists killed, according to the same source, are “Zahra and Ahmed Mohamed Abou Skheil working for the News network”, who fell on Saturday in an Israeli raid against a reception center in Gaza City.
The two other journalists are “Mustapha and Abderrahmen Kheder Bahr”, employed by the local agency “Urgence Palestine” and the first of whom was killed on March 31, 2024 near Kuwait House, south of Gaza City, while the second, a photographer, was killed on October 6, 2024 in the al-Karama city, west of Gaza City.
The media office condemned the assassination and targeting of journalists by the occupation.
He placed all responsibility on Israel for this “crime” and called on the international community to exert pressure to “put an end to the assassination and murder of journalists.”
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli army bombed a reception center at the “Fahd al-Sabah” school housing displaced people in the center of Gaza City, which cost the lives of 7 Palestinians, according to a medical source, including the two journalist brothers Abou Skheil, according to the Anadolu correspondent.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been carrying out, with absolute American support, a genocide in the Gaza Strip, causing more than 146 thousand victims, including dead and injured Palestinians, mostly women and children, and more than 10 thousand missing, in a context of massive destruction and a deadly famine of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
Israel continues its genocide, ignoring the Security Council’s decision to immediately end it and the orders of the International Court of Justice calling for preventive measures to prevent genocide and calling for improvement in the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
