Like Bradley Barcola, Kang-In Lee shone with a brace in PSG’s 4-2 win over Angers. Enough to call into question the hierarchy at the right winger position?
Three days after the embarrassing setback against Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain got back into working order by winning 4-2 on the Angers pitch (11th day of Ligue 1) . Despite the poorly managed additional time, the score can reassure the ability of this team to find the net, given the many recent performances with one goal scored or less.
Top scorer in the championship, Bradley Barcola now has 10 goals this season thanks to his double. The former Lyonnais knew how to be merciless in the 3-0, when Angers was scuttled with a loss of ball in front of his area (31st). Then he showed that he could be skilled with his head when he made the score 4-0 (45th + 2).
Can Lee overshadow Dembélé?
But the man of the match was Kang-In Lee. Starting for the eighth time this season, the South Korean attacking midfielder has been less visible lately. Given the presence of Marco Asensio in the false number 9 position at kick-off, it was in place of Ousmane Dembélé, on the right wing, that he was aligned.
It was he who broke the deadlock in the space of three minutes. First with success on a volley which required the use of goal line technology (17th). Then with another uncontrolled strike following a ground cross from Marco Asensio (20th). A nice assist for the second goal from Bradley Barcola – a cross from the center – completed his great first period.
Obviously, this performance turns attention to Ousmane Dembélé, widely criticized for his lack of skill on shots and crosses. It is not his entry into play that will plead in his favor. One of his losses resulted in the first Angevin goal (90th + 1).
In view of the low adversity, the results of Kang-In Lee’s match must be weighed. But playing time is also gained in these matches.
