This program is part of a partnership agreement for the implementation of the 2023-2027 regional development program concluded between the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the council of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region .

The program aims to rehabilitate and construct several roads at an estimated cost of 2.2 billion dirhams (MMDH), to which the Ministry of Equipment and Water contributes 955 million dirhams (MDH), while the regional council will contribute 1.3 billion dirhams. It also aims to improve economic and tourist attractiveness by strengthening services and improving road safety conditions through the rehabilitation and modernization of more than 556 km of the regional road network and the maintenance and construction of more than 900 km of rural roads, in addition to the reconstruction of 20 structures.

As part of the program to reduce spatial and social disparities, Mr. Baraka inaugurated the project to strengthen the unclassified road linking national road No. 1 and Douar Aksil, over a distance of 10 km, an amount of 10.6 MDH.

On this occasion, the measures taken to deal with the effects of flooding in the municipalities of Taghjijt and Amtadi were presented to the minister, and which notably include the construction of dams, the supply of drinking water, the protection of oases, the rehabilitation of irrigation systems, the widening of roads and the strengthening of the electricity network.

In the commune of Amtadi (110 km from the city of Guelmim), the start was given to the projects programmed as part of the national drinking water supply and irrigation program 2020-2027.

Construction work on two dams was also launched: the Tazounte dam, with a capacity of 5.8 million m³ (32 MDH) and the Oued Asfaw dam, with a capacity of 7.2 million m³ (29 MDH). MDH), financed by the regional council.

The projects planned in this commune to deal with the effects of flooding in the commune of Amtadi, by the different government sectors in the areas of agriculture, water and forests, health, development of oases and electricity, were also presented to the delegation.

The minister and the delegation accompanying him handed over, on this occasion, a 4×4 vehicle to the water police brigade under the Draa-Oued Noun hydraulic basin agency, to enable it to carry out its tasks. missions relating to the surveillance and protection of the public water domain.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Baraka underlined the importance of these structuring projects and programs which were launched in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, in particular the roads, which are part of the rehabilitation program of areas affected by flooding, and which will have a significant impact on the attractiveness of national and foreign investments.

Mr. Baraka indicated that in addition to road infrastructure, this program concerns the construction of 8 hill dams and other projects in the agricultural field, social services, water, forests and health.

For his part, the vice-president of the council of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, Ahmed Adzidad underlined the importance of these development projects which were launched on the occasion of the anniversary of the Green March, adding that the The objective of launching these projects, which mainly concern roads, drinking water and the construction of dams, is to provide drinking water to the population by reducing the risk of flooding.

In the same commune, the minister and the delegation accompanying him visited the multidisciplinary medical caravan organized by the regional directorate of health and social protection and the regional council of Guelmim-Oued Noun for the benefit of more than 1,200 beneficiaries of the population of these municipalities.
