Olivier Renard’s transfers will be closely scrutinized in Anderlecht. The new sporting director of Sporting takes stock of his vision of the situation.
Given the rather cold reception given by Anderlecht supporters due to his past at Standard, Olivier Renard already knows he is under pressure. The transfer window in January will therefore be important. For now, he is happy with the structure of the core.
“We have the chance to Anderlecht to have a lot of young people already. Even now in the core team, I think there are maybe five academy players who play as important players quite often. And this connection is my hobby, in quotes. The objective is to have a mix of academicians, scouting, to have quality on the ground and results” he declared for RTBF.
Olivier Renard wants to do things according to the rules: “Any player who arrives is a player who must be accepted by the scouting unit or by the sporting director and not by a third person who is outside the club. Now, the agents are also there to help us.”
In symbiosis with David Hubert?
The sporting director insists on the importance of communication with the coach: “Before each transfer, I propose the players to the coach because I start from the principle that a coach who sees players arriving and who does not not analyzed, he does not know his strong points and weak points in order to incorporate him as easily as possible into his playing system. If for X reasons, the coach would like to have a player, he must tell me the name, he knows it.”
Renard is aware of this, it is rare that 100% of the players brought in by a transfer window are successful: “My goal is that each time, we strengthen ourselves. The important thing too is that we don’t didn’t give me the obligation to sell now. So the club is healthy at that level. Do I have a huge budget? it takes to do something good, to strengthen the team.”
