This year, the ICS delivered the record quantity of 77,203 tonnes of NPK fertilizer and 17,000 tonnes of urea for the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign, an increase of around 25%, for the NPK and 36% for urea, compared to the previous agricultural campaign.

These quality fertilizers are particularly beneficial for the cultivation of cereals such as corn, millet, rice and market gardening. It should be noted that close collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and the ICS has resulted in a substantial reduction in the price of fertilizers, making the product more accessible to farmers.

As a reminder, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, Mabouba Diagne, interviewed by the Senegalese Press Agency (APS), announced, on May 17, 2024, a drop of more than 22 %, on the price of fertilizers, for the 2024-2025 agricultural season.

On this occasion, Minister Diagne underlined the very “active” role of the National Council for Consultation and Cooperation of Rural People (CNCR), in the preparations and in the analysis of the selection of fertilizer suppliers, which enabled to reduce the price of fertilizers this year by more than 22% and by 19% for the tomato sector, he said.

ICS fertilizers are considered premium because they are complex NPKs, which contain all the nutrients in a single granule. Complex NPKs are of better quality.

The application of quality fertilizers, in quantity, at the right time, is essential to obtaining good agricultural yields, in combination with quality seeds, adequate irrigation and good agricultural practices. It should be noted that ICS is the only entity to produce complex fertilizers in West Africa.
