CNOPS to CNSS switchover completed

16

This bill is part of the revision of legislative texts relating to social protection in accordance with the provisions of article 18 of Framework Law No. 09.21 relating to social protection.

This project aims to modify and supplement Law No. 65.00 relating to compulsory basic health insurance, in order to adopt a single body for the management of compulsory basic health insurance systems, in application of the requirements of Article 15 of Framework Law No. 09.21, which stipulates the adoption of a unified body to manage these systems.

Under this bill, the task of managing the basic public sector compulsory health insurance system will be entrusted to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) instead of the National Fund of Social Insurance Organizations, which will make it possible to entrust the management of basic health insurance systems to a single organization.

As a reminder, this bill was to be examined and approved by the government council on September 19 but was postponed in the face of the outcry it caused.

Furthermore, the compulsory basic health insurance system for students will also be abolished, after it became clear that this system is not necessary in view of the current context of generalization of compulsory basic health insurance.

Most Moroccan students can now benefit from health coverage as they are entitled to.
