Almost a month after the municipal elections, some towns do not yet have a majority.
This Friday, November 8 marks a deadline for forming majorities in the municipalities. Indeed, almost a month after the last municipal elections, certain municipalities do not yet have a majority, as is the case in Mons.
Lately, we have heard a lot about an association between the PS, the party of mayor Nicolas Martin, and the PTB, the Belgian communists. To find out if it was on the right track, an RTL info team tried to speak with Nicolas Martin, the reigning mayor of Mons… but without success.
In fact, he was not present this morning at the press conference in Mons, “heart in snow”, the name of the end-of-year festivities in the city center. The organizers spontaneously indicated that Nicolas Martin had never missed this presentation until now.
“We therefore assume that he devotes all his time to forming a coalition“, notes our on-site journalist Céline Praile. What we know is that Les Engagés left the discussions yesterday and we are therefore heading here towards a tripartite between the PS obviously, the PTB, and Ecolo.
With 22 seats out of 45, the PS only needed one partner, but the idea is obviously to form a more than comfortable majority. So will they succeed? You will have to show a little more patience, because if the interlocutors are not very talkative, or not at all, you will have to do everything you can to meet tomorrow’s deadline.
