“Stunning announcements.” This, with his characteristic modesty, is how Tim Cook summed up the Apple brand’s conference on Monday evening. For more than an hour and forty minutes, the director of Apple, helped by many senior managers of the multinational, outlined his ambitions in artificial intelligence. Apple thus presented “Apple Intelligence”, the company’s long-awaited response in the race for artificial intelligence. A system that perfectly matches Apple’s strategy: focused on very advanced marketing regarding respect for privacy, usable only on the most recent devices, but also open to other services, such as ChatGPT.
More than a year and a half after the arrival of ChatGPT, launched by OpenAI – whose director, Sam Altman, was in the audience facing Tim Cook – Apple is reacting. The multinational had let OpenAI, then Microsoft, Google and other competitors launch a multitude of services based on artificial intelligence (AI). Monday evening, Apple responded, by infusing its “Apple Intelligence” everywhere. This service will be available for testing this summer, then launched with versions 18 of iOS, iPadOS and MacOS this fall. You will therefore have to wait to test it.
