Since 2021, Thomas Kwan has been worried. He, who was nevertheless a wealthy doctor, did not appreciate that at that time, his mother decided to bequeath part of her property to the man who had been her companion for 21 years, but who was not Thomas’ father.
So the doctor began hatching a plan, and last January he took action. He sent his 71-year-old father-in-law a false official letter announcing that they were going to give him an anti-covid booster. Then, Thomas Kwan, 54, rang the doorbell, wearing a wig and fake mustache and beard, posing as the nurse in charge of the injection. As the doctor was also passionate about poisons, he managed to inoculate his victim with a flesh-eating bacteria.
The latter suffered horribly after the departure of the fake nurse. The unfortunate man spent five weeks in hospital having large chunks of flesh removed and undergoing several grafts, but he escaped. Thomas Kwan was unmasked using surveillance cameras and arrested.
Tried before a Newcastle court, he has just been sentenced to 31 years and 5 months in prison, says the BBC. The judge said the accused was a “dangerous offender” who posed a high risk to his victim. The latter, who suffers from serious post-traumatic disorders, has also broken up with Kwan’s mother.
