The Canadian Nurses Association recently celebrated the 14 individuals who received the title of fellow 2024 from the Canadian Academy of Nursing. University of Montreal professor José Côté is among them. This distinction is awarded to her in recognition of her leadership role in nursing and her innovative practices in digital health.
Full professor in the Faculty of Nursing at UdeM, José Côté specializes in the development and evaluation of digital health intervention models. She is notably at the origin of the TAVIE conceptMDa platform that aims to support patients in managing their chronic health conditions, such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. With her experience in team management, she has held the position of co-director of the Quebec Nursing Intervention Research Network since 2020.
A confirmed researcher, the holder of the Research Chair in New Nursing Practices has more than 160 scientific publications to her credit and has contributed to obtaining more than $45 million in research grants. She has been invited to present the results of her work at more than 300 regional, national and international events.
A fervent defender of the democratization of science and accessibility to knowledge, she launched, in 2018, the international, bilingual and open access journal Nursing science and health practices = Science of Nursing and Health Practices. She is also actively involved with the next generation of nurses.
During his career, José Côté received numerous distinctions. In 2016, the Order of Nurses of Quebec awarded her the Florence Prize in the Nursing Sciences Research category. In 2019, she was the recipient of one of the Women of Distinction awards from the Montreal Women’s Y Foundation. Then, last year, the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing awarded him the Award for Excellence in Nursing Research.
