Tin exploration and development company Atlantic Tin Ltd has announced a significant increase in resources for the Achmmach project, located approximately 40 km from Meknes.
According to an assessment carried out in July 2024 by Cube Consulting, the resources of the Achmmach project now reach 39.1 million tonnes, with an average tin content of 0.55%, representing approximately 213,000 tonnes of contained tin. This revision, up 33% compared to the 2021 estimate, was obtained through the addition of additional drilling, the revision of the cut-off threshold and the integration of new inferred resources.
Simon Milroy, CEO of Atlantic Tin, clarified that this increase in resources serves as the basis for the ongoing feasibility study, now integrating the Achmmach and Samine projects. He said that this new estimate strengthens Achmmach’s position among the largest unexploited tin deposits in the world, consolidating Morocco’s potential in this strategic sector.
At the same time, an exploration objective was defined for the neighboring Ain Karma site, with an estimate of 500 to 900 kilotons at a grade of 0.35% to 0.45% tin.
The company, based in Australia, owns 75% of the project in partnership with Toyota Tsusho Corp (20%) and Nittetsu Mining Co (5%). Atlantic Tin is positioned as a major player in the global tin market, operating one of the few large-scale mechanized deposits in a low-risk jurisdiction.
