The Rendez-vous de la philosophie, initiated ten years ago by the French Institute in Morocco, will celebrate their decade of existence from November 11 to 16. This philosophical festival, recognized for its ability to stimulate reflection on contemporary issues, will this year offer a rich and diverse program, bringing together philosophers, intellectuals and personalities from the cultural world around in-depth debates.
This anniversary edition, entrusted to a dual Franco-Moroccan curator composed of Driss Ksikes and Jean-Baptiste Brenet, will be centered on the theme “ The Universal in tension “. In a global context marked by growing divisions and global challenges – whether geopolitical, ethical, technological or ecological – this theme will question the potential of humanity to forge common values and projects while respecting the diversity of peoples and cultures.
In a press release sent to Hespress FRthe IFM emphasizes that participants will be invited to revisit the notion of universalism and its many facets: tradition, religion, humanism, human rights, citizenship, and even technological revolutions. This philosophical exploration, extended to varied perspectives, will bring together around forty renowned speakers from various disciplines, helping to enrich the debates and nourish common reflection.
Four nights of philosophy to explore the universal
To mark this decade of intellectual sharing, four “ Nights of Philosophy » will take place in the cities of Marrakech, Fez, Casablanca, and Rabat. Marrakech will host Philosophy Night on November 13 at the Language Center of Cadi Ayyad University, exploring philosophy in dialogue with traditions.
Fez will also organize a philosophy night at the Palais des Congrès on November 13, dedicated to interactions between philosophy and sciences, while Casablanca will highlight, on November 15 at the Faculty of Medicine of Hassan II University, the links between philosophy , ecology and imagination.
Finally, Rabat will close the event on November 16 with a philosophical dialogue led by Souleymane Bachir Diagne and Frédéric Worms at the Royal Institute for Research in the History of Morocco, followed by a night of philosophy at the Faculty of Sciences of Morocco. Mohammed V University, under the theme “Commons as an alternative – Translation as a method of constructing the universal”.
The organization of the Rendez-vous de la philosophie benefits from the support of multiple Moroccan and French institutions, including the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), the Moroccan Ministry of Education, ICESCO, and the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME). Moroccan universities such as Mohammed V University in Rabat, Hassan II University in Casablanca, Euromed University, and Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech are also among the partners.
This tenth edition thus promises to establish itself as an unmissable intellectual meeting, bringing together thinkers and citizens around essential reflections on universal values.
