Serious accident on the A1 –
A motorist ends her swerve on the roof below the highway.
The 62-year-old driver, traveling between Nyon and Coppet, hit the guardrail. The police are appealing for witnesses.

Tuesday, at 5:05 p.m., the Centrale Vaudoise Police was informed of a serious accident that occurred on the A1 motorway, Chaussée Jura, between the junctions of Nyon and Coppet. According to the first elements of the investigation, the driver, a 62-year-old Swiss woman living in the region, alone in her car, a white Hyundai, was traveling on the highway towards Coppet. Under the bridge linking the villages of Eysins and Crassier, the driver veered to her right, hit the guardrail then ended her journey on the roof, off the road, several tens of meters below.
Seriously injured, the driver was treated by SMUR medical staff and an ambulance with the support of firefighters for extrication. She was taken to the CHUV by ambulance, her vital prognosis being in jeopardy.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed and the duty prosecutor opened a criminal investigation to determine the exact circumstances and causes of this accident. Investigations are entrusted to the mobile gendarmerie.
The cantonal police are calling for witnesses. Anyone able to provide information about the accident is asked to call 021 343 15 10 or contact the nearest police station.
This accident required the commitment of medical staff from SMUR GHOL and a CSU-Morges-Aubonne ambulance, firefighters from SDIS Nyon-Dôle with 17 men and 3 vehicles, the breakdown repairer, Sierra for the restoration of the roadway and several mobile gendarmerie patrols.
