The mayor of closes the Town Hall

HAS Colomierssecond most populous city in Haute-Garonne, the mayor (PS), Karine Traval-Michelet announced for her part “the symbolic closure of the Hotel of City this Thursday.” A way for the elected socialist to “protest against this unilateral decision which would call into question the capacity for intervention of many communities and therefore the quality of the public service provided to users”.

“For the City of Colomiers alone, the impact of government measures is estimated at approximately 3 million euros (direct puncture, reduction in the DGF, increase in the CNRACL levy, etc.). Local authorities are well managed, our budgets are voted in balance, we represent 70% of public investment in France… There is absolutely no reason to blame us for budgetary excesses for which only the government must be accountable. It’s quite simply a political and economic mistake,” says Karine Traval-Michelet, who specifies that she will participate in the rally planned for Thursday in Toulouse.

“At my initiative, mayors of the metropolis and other intercommunities will join this movement,” underlines the elected official.

Colomiers town hall closed: practical information

Only the services present at the Town Hall will be closed to the public for the entire day of November 7 but will remain reachable by telephone or email. Face-to-face appointments previously made for this day of November 7 will be maintained and carried out at the Town Hall.

In order not to penalize users of Town Hall services and residents of Colomiers, all of the Town's other services and sites will be open to the public: Leisure center associated with the school (alaé), Citizens' houses, Municipal center for social action and health (CCASS), Jean-Vauchère Nautical Space, Henri Molina White Pavilion…

For any information, the Town Hall services are available to users on: 05 61 15 22 22.

Many town halls closed

The town hall of Colomiers will not be the only one to be closed that day. Within Toulouse Métropole, the mayors of Aussonne, Beauzelle, Brax, Cugnaux, Launaguet, The Union, Mondonville, Pibrac, Saint John, and of Villeneuve-Tolosane announced the symbolic closure of their Town Hall on Thursday November 7, 2024.

These municipalities in the Metropolis are thus imitating the movement initiated in Muretain, where the 26 town halls in the agglomeration have decided to close their doors this Thursday, November 7, 2024. A decision taken unanimously by the mayors of this territory to express their fed up with the executive.

Toulouse town hall remains open

On the other hand, the town hall of Toulouse will be open because “Jean-Luc Moudenc does not wish to disturb the people of Toulouse”, indicates his team to Toulouse News.
