  • The latest forecasts suggest an increase of 23% in traffic, and not more than 70%.

  • According to OFROU, the difference in forecasts is explained by the use of teleworking and the evolution of mobility policies.

  • This new information provokes mixed reactions and confirms the relativity of projections on distant horizons.

It’s a vote where each side goes blow for blow, brandishing figures and millions. The project to extend the A1 motorway between Nyon and Vengeron continues to spark debate. Last example: while opponents claim, on the basis of figures from the Federal Roads Office (Ofrou), that such a project would increase the number of daily vehicles from 90,000 to 130,000 on this section, recent projections undermine this argument.

Ofrou has just revealed new “traffic forecasts” in complete discretion. Less than three weeks before the votes, Time got its hands on these forecasts which are based on figures for the year 2023. Note that the last figures on which the experts based date back to 2015.
