Adel El Fakir, Director General of the National Airports Office (ONDA), formalized the appointment of Hicham Rahil as director of Casablanca Mohammed V Airport. Hicham Rahil holds a doctorate in computer science and applied mathematics, specifies the press release, also highlighting its expertise with “around twenty years of experience within ONDA”.
To cope with the constant increase in air traffic, the airport has equipped itself with ultra-modern equipment. “A new baggage handling area for transit flights has been set up over an area of approximately 3000 m²”, indicates the press release. This installation includes, according to the details provided, “a high-tech system with two conveyor lines equipped with automatic explosive detection devices (EDS)”.
The press release highlights a significant improvement in operational capabilities: “This new system makes it possible to process 1,500 bags in transit per hour”, thus ensuring increased efficiency in baggage handling.
ONDA also modernized the baggage delivery area. “The baggage claim area now has 10 belts, 7 of which have been replaced by the latest generation equipment”, specifies the press release. This improvement aims to significantly reduce passenger waiting times.
The document also announces that “a global renovation project for the baggage delivery room will be launched soon”, demonstrating the continued desire to improve services.
These transformations are part of a long-term vision. As the press release points out, these new features “are part of ONDA’s strategy aimed at modernizing its infrastructure in order to support the continued growth of airport traffic”. The objective is clear: strengthen the position of Mohammed V airport as an international hub and prepare for 2030 challenges.
