BROSSARD – Forward Cole Caufield is the winner of the Molson Cup for the October segment, the Montreal Canadiens announced Monday.

Caufield was named first star once (October 12 against Ottawa), second star once (October 19 at New York) and third star once (October 9 against Toronto). In 11 games in October, the left winger led the NHL with 10 goals (tied with Nico Hischier for the lead in scoring).

Caufield also led the team with six even-strength goals, four power play goals, two game-winning goals and 32 shots. His percentage of shots finding the back of the net (31.3%) gave him first place on the circuit among players who scored at least seven goals during this period. Caufield became the first Canadiens player to score 10 goals in 11 games or fewer since Brian Savage in 1999-2000.

A presentation honoring the Molson Cup winner for the month of October will take place before Tuesday night’s matchup against the Calgary Flames at the Bell Centre.
