L’Mohammed V airport in Casablanca reaches a new milestone. This Monday, November 4, Adel El Fakir, Director General of the National Airports Office (ONDA), appointed Hicham Rahil as Director of Mohammed V Airport. With a doctorate in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics fromHassan II University of Casablanca and a master’s degree in engineering and optimization of transport systems, Hicham Rahil has accumulated twenty years of experience at ONDA, where he held various positions, notably in the airports of Casablanca et Nador El Aroui.

To support the growth of air traffic and optimize baggage management,THEN carried out a vast project to modernize the baggage processing chain of theaéroport Mohammed V. Covering an area of 3,000 m², the new area dedicated to handling baggage in transit is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including two conveyor lines integrating automatic explosive detection systems. These lines guide the luggage « clear » towards a loading carousel, while suspicious baggage is routed to a third line for screening at the x-rays. This device makes it possible to treat up to 1,500 bags in transit per hourthus improving flight punctuality.

L’THEN has also optimized the baggage delivery area upon arrival. Now, 10 conveyor belts, including 7 of the latest generation, offer greater processing capacity, reducing waiting times for passengers. A complete renovation of this delivery room is also planned to offer travelers a more modern and functional space.

In its strategic vision, ONDA aims to make Mohammed V airport an essential international hub, with infrastructure adapted to the growing needs of passengers. Optimizing circuits, reducing waiting times and continuously improving the customer experience are becoming ONDA’s priorities, both for Casablanca airport and for all airports in the Kingdom, in order to prepare for the challenges ofhorizon 2030.
