(Agence Ecofin) – While Morocco already hosts many aeronautical equipment manufacturers, the new Boeing center will specialize in advanced manufacturing, industry 4.0, automation and new materials, relying on collaborations between companies industries and universities.

The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing recently signed an agreement with Morocco to install a manufacturing and research and development (R&D) center in Nouaceur, an industrial hub located approximately 35 km south of Casablanca. The unit will specialize in “ advanced manufacturing, industry 4.0, automation and new materials ».

Named African Manufacturing Center of Excellence (ACME), it will follow a consortium model based on collaboration between industrial companies and universities (including the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University) to develop R&D, propose innovative solutions and create added value for its members, according to a press release published by the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The Moroccan company NTS Technics has been appointed engineering partner. It will be supported by Boeing to reach design level 3 and be considered an approved engineering supplier for the American manufacturer, under the terms of the agreement signed at the Marrakech Air Show.
