The information had already been circulating for several days, after Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko received the mayors of the Mbacké department. Among those who took part in the meeting held at the prime minister’s office, we could cite the mayor of Mbacké, Gallo Ba. This is now done because during the general meeting held at his home, Gallo Ba confirmed that he is joining the Pastef party.
Explaining the reasons which pushed him to leave the party of President Macky Sall, the first magistrate of the commune of Mbacké returned at length to the content of the meeting with Ousmane Sonko who asked the mayors to support him for having a comfortable majority in the national assembly. In his speech, the leader of Pastef reiterated his friendship with Gallo Ba who was in the ruling party but who had never uttered inappropriate words towards him and claims a long-standing friendship.
And Gallo Ba clarified that he was not approached by anyone and his arrival is simply motivated by the fact that only those in power can assist him in his project to build the commune of Mbacké. And besides, he promises to make a statement on November 10 during Ousmane Sonko’s meeting in Mbacké as part of the electoral campaign.
Very lively, Mayor Gallo Ba said that there was never a question of putting his personal interests to the detriment of Mbacké which he intends to build with the current regime because Mbacké’s budget is not consistent enough to make any achievement in the commune.
However, it is important to note the remarkable and notable absence of Pastef supporters in Mbacké and Touba. Indeed, it is customary to see Cheikh Thioro Mbacké, Ahmadou Lo, the departmental coordinator of Pastef and other Pastef pundits every time a political leader declares his allegiance to the Pastef party.
But this time, no official made the trip to support the rally of Gallo Ba who asked his activists to support Pastef’s list during the vote on November 17.
