Lhe Brussels firefighters were mobilized on Saturday evening to fight a “fully developed” fire in a room on the third floor of a hotel located on Boulevard Adolphe Max, according to the spokesperson. Three people were treated for smoke poisoning, without hospitalization being necessary.
The hotel had to be completely evacuated so that 52 people had to be relocated. They were taken care of by the City of Brussels and the police. Several people even had to be evacuated via aerial ladders, said the spokesperson.
A medical post has been set up in a nearby hotel. Medical services and Red Cross teams were also on site “to help take care of people being rehoused and offer support in general,” explains Mr. Derieuw.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the firefighters put an end to their system. Two command vehicles were mobilized, as well as four pumpers, four ladder trucks, and a decontamination vehicle among others.
The Brussels hotel is no longer usable. The origin of the fire remains to be determined.
