MEDZ welcomes a new Safran installation within the MidParc Industrial Acceleration Zone – Le7tv.ma

On October 31, 2024, MEDZ, a subsidiary of the CDG Group in the Territorial Development branch, and the Safran Group, operating in the fields of aeronautics and defense, represented respectively by Mr. Khalid Safir, Managing Director of the CDG Group, and Mr. Jean-Paul Alary, President of Safran Aircraft Engines, signed an agreement for the acquisition of land within the Midparc Industrial Acceleration Zone, where a new aeronautical engine maintenance workshop will be located.

This signing ceremony took place under the Presidency of Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, in the presence of Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, on the sidelines of the 7th edition of the Marrakech Air Show (MAS), which is held, under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, from October 30 to November 2 2024 at the Royal Air Force School Base.

This new site, with an area of ​​25,000 m², is intended to develop a maintenance and repair (MRO) workshop for new generation LEAP engines.

Operational by 2026, it will have an eventual capacity of 150 maintenance operations per year and will employ 600 people, mainly highly qualified engineers and technicians.

It should be noted that for the realization of this project, the Safran group signed simultaneously with Mr. Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, President of the company Miparc SA, a contract for support as project management assistant.

As a reminder, the Midparc Industrial Acceleration Zone, developed by MEDZ and located in Casablanca, Morocco’s leading economic hub, welcomes various national and international players, specializing in particular in the aeronautical industry, space, and defense-related activities. and security as well as other industries such as medical, embedded electronics, etc.

More than 20 investment projects have already been installed in the aeronautical value chain (excluding extension projects), leading to the creation of more than 3,000 jobs (i.e. 15% of the workforce employed in the sector).
