Lausanne missed the opportunity on Friday to temporarily come back to the level of the Zurich Lions, leaders of the National League. The LHC even lost heavily (7-2) on the ice of a solid CP Berne. Genève-Servette, for its part, returned to victory by winning 3-1 in Lugano.

Winner of four of its last five matches in the league, Lausanne came up against a “SCB” who perhaps wanted more after suffering two consecutive defeats. A double in 240 seconds from their former captain Simon Moser (3rd 1-0, 7th 2-0) very quickly placed the Bears in the right orbit.

Dominated, the LHC was able to reduce the gap in the 10th with a shot from Aurélien Marti. But Geoff Ward’s men folded during the middle period, Waltteri Merelä (27th) and Austin Czarnik (33rd, 5 against 4) giving Berne two points back. The 5-1 signed Benjamin Baumgartner after 29” in the third period stunned the Vaudois.

Raanta s’illustre

Genève-Servette, for its part, relaunched its actions on Lugano soil after a series of four defeats. The GSHC took a two-step lead with goals from Markus Granlund (8th, 5 against 4) and Sakkari Manninen (22nd), both authors of their 6th success of the season. This mattress was finally enough.

Lugano, which for its part ended a series of four defeats on Tuesday by subduing Bern, certainly regained hope shortly after mid-match thanks to a goal from Daniel Carr (32nd, 1-2). But Antti Raanta (26 saves) provided the essentials before Giancarlo Chanton ensured the garnet success in the 51st with his first goal of the season.

Biel, which remains on seven victories in its last nine National League matches, is firmly established in the top 6.

Four in a row for Davos

The fourth match of the evening saw Davos win 3-0 at Rapperswil-Jona. Third, now 2 points behind Lausanne, the HCD won its fourth success in a row thanks in particular to a double from Matej Stransky. Times are tougher for “Rappi”, beaten four times in his last five outings.
