Headlining, Abdelhamid Harifi preferred to start our tour with the F-16spearhead of Royal Air Forces. Two versions of this device are on display: the Single-seat F-16C and the F-16D biplace. Equipped with various weapons, these aircraft illustrate the range of missions they can carry out, including reconnaissance, destruction of enemy defense systems, air protection and ground targeting. The expert specifies that these devices, “combat proven” have proven their effectiveness in numerous theaters of operations around the world, from Africa to Europe.
Among the weapons on display, we find missiles air-air short and medium ranges, as well as rare equipment in Africa such as the Harm anti-radiation missile and the GBU-GDM intelligent guided bomb. Abdelhamid Harifi underlines that Morocco is one of the rare countries on the continent to have this equipment, which considerably strengthens its deterrence capacity.
The CL-415 Canadairanother symbol of national air power, is dedicated to fighting wildfires. Since the beginning of the 2010s, Morocco has operated seven of these aircraft, with an eighth on order. Used beyond national borders, Moroccan Canadairs have even participated in relief operations abroad, notably in Portugal and Spain, thus strengthening Morocco’s solidarity diplomacy and soft power.
The exhibition also presents the Bayraktar TB3, an advanced version of the Turkish TB2 drone which has demonstrated its effectiveness in Libya, Syria, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Equipped with satellite capabilities for a wider range of action, this drone can carry out reconnaissance and guided attack missions for 21 hours. Abdelhamid Harifi adds that the Bayraktar TB3 offers a unique strategic dimension to the Moroccan armed forces.
The Bell 412 PImaking its first public appearance here, is a multi-mission helicopter specially equipped for Marine Royale with sonar L3LRAS dedicated to anti-submarine missions. Developed in partnership with Canadian specialists, this device represents a technical advance for Moroccan maritime aviation, to the point of arousing the interest of potential customers in Asia, according to Abdelhamid Harifi.
The Royal Navy also exhibits the Panthera veteran helicopter having played a crucial role in the creation of Moroccan naval aviation. Our expert notes that this device, still operational, illustrates Moroccan know-how in maintenance and upkeep, testifying to the expertise acquired by national technical teams.
Furthermore, the show highlights the helicopters of the air group of the Royal Gendarmeriewhich for more than 60 years has carried out civil and public interest missions. Among them, theEC-135 and EC-145multi-purpose aircraft from Airbus, carry out rescue and medical transport missions (Medevac) and surveillance, with intervention capacity in mountainous regions demonstrated during the earthquake.
The new helicopter EC-225, or Super Pumacompletes this fleet. Abdelhamid Harifi underlines that this device, dedicated to transport and emergency interventions, was crucial during recent relief operations following the Al Haouz earthquakethus strengthening the role of the Moroccan aviation in the management of humanitarian crises.
