The pension battle
“The End of a Hoax”this is how Prisca Thevenot, guest of Adrien Gindre in “Bonjour! La matinale de TF1”, described the proposal of the National Rally, during a parliamentary niche in the National Assembly, to repeal the pension reform. The text was in fact rejected and the far-right group returned “in the next elections”.
“I don't know if we should experience this as a victory but rather as the end of a hoax. The National Rally knew very well that by proposing this repeal of the pension reform, it would only make a kind of spectacle a little sad because he knew that it would not pass politically, because he did not manage to have a majority of deputies to support this repeal and it would not pass financially.insisted the Ensemble pour la République des Hauts-de-Seine MP, this Friday, November 1.
“It’s not serious. It lacks competence”
Asked whether, following this failure, all RN deputies had become pariahs, Prisca Thevenot felt that we should not see “all white or black”. “But look at the facts! I could tell you at length and back why I don't agree with anything in the proposals of the National Rally and why I will always fight the extreme right. Now, when we look at the bottom, they prove us right”she estimated on our antenna.
“On the repeal of the pension reform, we told them that it was not simply a question of putting a title on a blank page but of working on the substance. You want the repeal of the pension reform, you recognize that there is a financing problem. What are they doing? They write the law but they don't explain to us how they are going to finance it. It's not serious. and above all a lot of honesty!”, further denounced the MP.
“I want the generalization of the SNU”
Concerning the elimination of the Universal National Service (SNU) in Parliament, initiated by Emmanuel Macron, Maud Bregeon, government spokesperson, clarified that the government did not wish to eliminate this service but recognized that the financial situation, as it was today, did not allow generalization, planned for 2026. Asked about the words of her predecessor, Prisca Thevenot considered that we could not “not having an in-between”. “Either we move towards generalization or we stop. And I say that very clearly.”she insisted.
“Today, we have an observation: we have a part of the youth, if not all of the youth, who today can no longer come together, can no longer create cohesion. And we also have this challenge of carrying a national dimension for generations to come”she said.
Does the MP therefore believe that the SNU should be stopped immediately? “Non”, she replied. “I tell you that there are places where we must save, and others where we must invest“, she said before announcing that she “wished” the generalization of the SNU.
