After completion of the interrogation procedures of the person concerned, this Prosecutor’s Office decided to prosecute him while at liberty for insult to constituted bodies and dissemination of false allegations and reporting of a fictitious crime of which he knows does not exist, as well as summoning him for a trial hearing, specified the spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor’s Office (substitute for the King’s Prosecutor near the Court of First Instance of Casablanca), in a statement to the press.
In this context, the Prosecutor’s Office affirms that the person concerned benefited from the guarantees and rights conferred on him by law during the investigation carried out by the Judicial police and his interrogation, knowing that he was informed of the reasons for his arrest, as well as his family, and of his right to remain silent and of all his legal rights, notes the same source.
And to add that the Prosecutor’s Office will ensure the monitoring of the progress of this case, in accordance with the law, and the provision of guarantees and conditions of a fair trial, in consecration of the principle of equality of all before the law.
The deputy of the King’s Prosecutor affirmed that following the press release from this Prosecutor’s Office, dated Thursday October 31, 2024, regarding the opening of a judicial investigation against a person and his placement in police custody for being suspected of having committed criminal acts punishable by law, this Prosecutor’s Office wishes to inform public opinion of the measures taken in the context of this case, without departing from fundamental respect for the principle of presumption of innocence.
Contrary to the erroneous information published on certain social networks about this case, this Prosecutor’s Office supervised under its responsibility the investigation procedures with the judicial police services, specified the same source.
And to note that in consecration of the constitutional principle relating to right of access to informationand based on the role which falls to it to inform public opinion about the questions which may arouse its interest, as has been the case in several questions where it takes care to communicate, this Prosecutor’s Office informs public opinion that the person concerned was referred, this Friday morning, November 1, before this Prosecutor’s Office, after completion of the investigation procedures and fulfillment of all the guarantees provided for by law.
The person concerned was thus the subject of an interrogation in accordance with the legal rules in force, on the dissemination of data and allegations detrimental to the interests of the Kingdom and certain of its authorities, and which exceed the limits of freedom of expression and represent constituent elements of crimes punishable by law, he said.
