Under pressure, Frédérique Perler has her controversial signs removed

EXCLUSIVE – Accused of carrying out political propaganda at the taxpayer’s expense with “informative” signs, Frédérique Perler has the installations urgently removed, Léman Bleu reveals.

In the middle of the electoral campaign, signs presented as “informative”, installed at great expense (some 50,000 francs) by the City of Geneva, fueled the controversy.

Touting without contradiction the advantages of the Mont-Blanc footbridge subject to a vote on November 24, these panels did not fail to provoke opponents of the project, including the MCG and Ensemble à Gauche. They have in fact filed several appeals with the courts, requesting the cancellation of the vote.

The case law is in fact very restrictive with regard to the positions taken by executives on the sidelines of voting campaigns. They can express themselves, but with restraint. Limits likely to have been exceeded in the present case, motivating these appeals to justice.

Presumably in embarrassment, Frédérique Perler made an about-face, Léman Bleu learned. A letter from his services, addressed to the Constitutional Chamber of the Court of Justice as part of the current legal procedure, announces that the disputed signs have just been removed.

In this same letter, the City says it persists in its conclusions on the merits, contesting the cancellation of the vote requested by the appellants.

The courts have not yet ruled, although the voting process has already started and the first voting envelopes have already been sent by voters to the cantonal voting service.

Development will follow in our next editions.
