While a 5-year-old child, in his father's car, was seriously injured by bullets on Saturday evening in Pacé (Ille-et-Vilaine), the mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré called, Monday October 28 on Bleu Armorique, the government to make “the fight against drug banditry a genuine national priority”. The events took place during a chase near Rennes, a few hours after a shooting against a backdrop of drug trafficking. In just over a month, this is the sixth shooting in the Rennes metropolis. The councilor refuses to “to get used to” to this violence, and to “resign yourself to it”.

The elected judge “astounding” that such “Violence, increasingly uninhibited, can affect a child”. Nathalie Appéré also notes that “this scourge of drug banditry concerns all territories”. “Today, there is not a single territory, not a single city that escapes drug trafficking and its consequences”she laments.

So that France is “capable of fighting drug trafficking”the mayor of Rennes believes that we must take an example from the measures taken after the attacks which hit France in recent years. “Ten years ago, when the country was hit regularly and indiscriminately by terrorism, France was able to equip itself with a certain number of tools to be more resilient and to better combat this threat”she greets. Nathalie Appéré mentions in particular “the national anti-terrorism prosecution, a stronger police presence, protection measures for major sporting and cultural events”.

Referring to a recent senatorial report, the mayor of Rennes therefore pleads for “a dedicated national prosecutor’s office” in the fight against drug trafficking, “specific penalties, freezing of criminal assets”. The socialist councilor also welcomes the sending of the CRS 82 as reinforcements, announced by the Minister of the Interior. In fact, she considers that “the massive police presence is absolutely necessary and makes it possible to obtain results” and of “reassure residents”. Nathalie Appéré finally insists on the need for each institution to “take your part”as well “to the police, to justice” what “public health policies and communities”.
