A road accident involving an electric motorcycle in Vaudreuil-Dorion is the subject of an investigation by the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI), launched Saturday.

Posted at 7:06 p.m.

The accident in question took place on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Police officers reportedly noticed that the driver of an electric motorcycle had just violated the road safety code. They therefore tried to intercept it, using their flashing lights.

The police officers, however, “turned off their flashing lights”, and a few moments later, the “motorcycle collided with another vehicle”, explains the BEI, in a press release.

The impact caused serious injuries to the motorcyclist, who was transported to a hospital. “His condition would be considered serious,” specifies the BEI.

It is normal for the BEI to investigate when an individual suffers an injury during a police intervention, as in this case.

Four BEI investigators will look into the accident. At the same time, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) will conduct its own investigation into the accident.
