A 90-year-old man killed his wife with a gunshot before killing himself at their home in Trélissac (Dordogne), said the Périgueux public prosecutor’s office, this Saturday, October 19, 2024, confirming information from France Blue Périgord .
“This morning, around 6 a.m., police officers from the Périgueux police station were requested following the call […] of a man who reported having killed his wife and warned that he was going to commit suicide”writes the public prosecutor Jacques-Edouard Andrault in a press release.
Police officers then went to the home of the couple, whose husband had previously communicated the address, and discovered the lifeless bodies of the two nonagenarians in the bedroom.
A discreet couple and no criminal record
“A rifle was next to the husband. Both people had gunshot wounds.adds the magistrate, specifying that the husband had not “no criminal record”.
The couple, described as discreet, lived in a suburban area and the woman had suffered from health problems for several years, according to France Blue.
“The favored hypothesis at this stage of the investigations is that of a spousal homicide committed by the husband, followed by the suicide of the latter”continues the prosecutor. An autopsy will be performed.
