The Confederation of African Football (CAF) strongly condemned “security violations and poor behavior of spectators during and after the final return of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup between Zamalek SC and RS Berkane which took place in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday May 19, 2024.”

In an official press release published on its Internat website, CAF indicated that it had “referred to the competent CAF authorities for investigation and disciplinary measures if necessary, on the incidents and behavior of Zamalek SC supporters, its players, officials and any other party during and after the match.”

Note that the end of the RSB-Zamalek match, Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium, was marked by significant organizational problems and an altercation between a group of people on the field, in a scene which seriously undermines the image of African football.

As a reminder, Zamalek (Egypt) won a second title in the CAF Cup, beating Berkane Sports Renaissance in the return final (1-0, 2-2 aggregate score).
