— The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, reacting to Israeli control of the crossing point between Gaza and Egypt, which it says endangers humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, as well as the possibility for Gazans of leave the territory to receive medical treatment. Israeli tanks entered Rafah as part of what the IDF calls a limited operation to destroy Hamas targets it says were used to attack Israeli soldiers.
PS: Israel rejected Hamas’ counteroffer for a ceasefire involving the release of 33 hostages, an unknown number of whom died. The Netanyahu government nevertheless sent a delegation to Cairo to review the proposal and consider further concessions.
