Published today at 9:32 a.m.

Since January 2024, the graffiti unit of the Vaud cantonal police has carried out an investigation concerning a series of tags observed in two municipalities on the Vaud Riviera. No less than 27 criminal complaints for the aforementioned property damage offenses have been filed. Private properties, public buildings and street furniture were affected by this material damage.

The total amount of damage amounts to several tens of thousands of francs. Informed of the facts, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Eastern Vaudois district opened proceedings.

Caught in flagrante delicto

At the beginning of last March, two young men aged 18 and 20 were arrested in flagrante delicto by Riviera Police officers while they were spraying public toilets in La Tour-de-Peilz. Paint cans and several markers were seized from them.

The two alleged perpetrators, of Swiss nationality and domiciled in the region, were questioned the same day by the gendarmes from the Graffiti Unit. They admitted to having committed a few dozen tags, spread across the municipalities of Vevey and Tour-de-Peilz. The two defendants were acquitted following police interviews and remain at the disposal of the criminal authorities.
