This new week is synonymous with the return of the sun. After a second week of April and a generally gray and rainy start to May with temperatures below seasonal norms, the return of sunny days is announced for this week, from Wednesday.
Monday: again gray and rainy weather
But we will have to wait a little longer to have weather worthy of May. The weather is expected to be generally choppy and humid this Monday with a rainy disturbance which will affect the eastern half of the country and sometimes stormy showers which will fall in the west, according to Météo France. The rains will be more marked in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Grand-Est. Although Corsica and the south of the Paca region will be more spared, they will not see any sunshine.
In terms of temperatures, they were between 7 and 13 degrees in the early morning and maximum temperatures will generally not exceed 14 to 18 degrees at the best of the day, with still 18 to 21 degrees on the Mediterranean coast and up to 26 degrees in western Corsica.
Tuesday: a rainy and stormy day
The rains will gain ground during the day on Tuesday since they will affect almost the entire territory, with the exception of the western end of the country where the sun will be present. The south-eastern quarter of the country will be affected by thunderstorms, with the exception of towns on the coast located between Perpignan and Marseille. If storms will persist in this area until the evening, the weather will be mild and dry in the rest of the country.
Maximum temperatures will range from 14°C to 19°C in the north of France and they will be between 11°C to 20°C in the southern half.
Wednesday: the return of the sun
After gloomy weather, the sun has the good idea to make its return on May 8, on the first day of the long Ascension weekend. After a sunny morning across the whole country, with the exception of the northern end, the afternoon also looks set to be sunny despite the presence of clouds over almost the entire country, with the exception of the south. -east of the country where the sky will be clear.
Temperatures will be rising with maximums of between 17°C and 20°C in the northern half of the country, then between 18°C and 21°C in the southern half.
Thursday: mild, dry and sunny weather
After the beautiful day of Wednesday, the weather promises to be mild once again for the day of Thursday with a sunny morning across the entire country. The afternoon should be just as sunny, especially in the southern half, while a few clouds will appear in the northern part even if the sun will remain.
In terms of temperatures, they will be increasing with maximums between 18°C and 20°C in the northern part, and between 19°C and 24°C in the south.
Friday: the country cut in two
After another sunny morning over almost the entire territory, with the exception of the North, Normandy and Brittany where the weather will be cloudy, France will be cut in two in the afternoon. The weather will be gray and cloudy over the entire northern part, but should remain dry, when it will be sunny over the entire southern part.
Temperatures will be above seasonal norms with the 25°C mark passed in the South-West, notably in Tarbes and Toulouse, but also near Montélimar. In the rest of the country, the maximums will remain high and should be between 20°C and 25°C.
Weekend: summer weather
If this is just a trend, the weather should be summery at the end of the Ascension long weekend. The sun should be present across the entire territory for Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday still looking a little cloudier. Although the weather will remain dry, a few storms could still appear in the south of the country.
Temperatures will be worthy of summer, with maximums ranging from 22°C to 27°C in the northern part of the country, and around 25°C in the southern part.
