The office of lawyer Jean-Philippe Maince in Charleroi was confined following receipt of a letter containing a suspicious white powder around 2 p.m.

Contacted by us, the lawyer confirmed having received a letter from the ex-partner of one of his clients who claimed to have put anthrax in it. The mail was not opened but a white powder still escaped from it.

Upon receipt of the letter, the police were notified and all the people present in the office as well as the police officers who came to take the statement had to be isolated in the building. The secretaries who had direct contact with the letter were isolated in another room.

Around 6:20 p.m., staff were able to leave the building. They are now awaiting lab results. They were advised to take a shower quickly. the secretaries left with overalls.
