The government is closely monitoring the situation of the Moroccan community

Faced with the military escalation in Lebanon, the Moroccan government has affirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation of Moroccans residing in this country. This statement was made by Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate in charge of relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, this Thursday, October 3, during a press conference held at the end of the weekly meeting of the Government Council.

Baitas specified that monitoring the situation of the Moroccan community in Lebanon is done in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad. In this regard, a crisis unit has been set up within the Kingdom’s embassy in Beirut, in order to maintain direct contact with members of the community, ensure their safety, and guide them in the event of need.

The minister also indicated that a number of Moroccans have already left Lebanon with their families, while reassuring that no injuries or losses have been recorded among Moroccan citizens residing in this country.

Baitas concluded that the government attaches paramount importance to the situation of Moroccans living in areas of conflict, disasters or unrest, by creating a permanent crisis unit within the ministry to deal with these eventualities.
