“The four suspects arrested in France, all of French nationality, were arrested by the French authorities following a request for mutual legal assistance on Tuesday October 1. A European arrest warrant was issued against them with a view to their surrender to Belgium, for the same facts. They were detained in France on the basis of European arrest warrants.

Three suspects were present
The investigation revealed that three of the suspects arrested in France were allegedly present at the time of the events. The fourth suspect is suspected of having transported the three others from France to Belgium.
According to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, “the first elements of the investigation seem to indicate that there was a mistaken identity regarding the victim.” The judicial authorities again confirmed on October 3, 2024 that “the facts seem to take place in the drug world”.
A suspect had already been arrested in May 2024 in this case, suspected of having transported the shooter(s).
The prosecution ends by highlighting the “remarkable” cooperation with the French judicial authorities (prosecutor’s office and general prosecutor’s office, and investigating judge) and the French police services (OCLCO) “for many months and more particularly this week” .
The judicial investigation is still ongoing.
