After May 1, Raphaël Glucksmann maintains his remarks against LFI and accuses it of “brutalizing the debate”

The day before, Raphaël Glucksmann had in fact accused LFI of being responsible for the action which prevented him from marching, in particular by being targeted by egg and paint throwing.

His comments particularly offended Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who in a tweet asked Raphaël Glucksmann to apologize for his unfounded accusations, according to him.

“ I will not apologize and I want to tell these people who brutalize the public debate that they do not impress us. And that our entire campaign is designed as an antidote to this permanent brutalization of the debate”replied the MEP.

Raphaël Glucksmann goes even further and believes that it is because of the “ dynamic » of his campaign that “ these extremist groups who feel more and more marginalized, including on the left, have attacked” to him. The candidate then accuses Jean-Luc Mélenchon and “the rebellious circles” to be responsible for a “campaign of slander against” the PS-Place Publique list.

He also uses strong words, evoking a campaign of slander “violent, deceitful” against his own person, his positions or his votes in the European Parliament. Repeated attacks, which are, according to him, responsible for the incidents observed in Saint-Étienne for this workers’ day.

“At some point you have to say stop”

Then questioned about the reasons for these attacks, Raphaël Glucksmann believes that he owes them to the fact of being “ in front » in the polls. “ He (Jean-Luc Mélenchon) felt like he owned the left », says the candidate again.

The head of the Socialist Party list also recalls that he has always refused to put forward “ thousands of anti-Semitic insults » received in recent months after a question from journalist Patrick Cohen regarding these attacks.

On Wednesday May 1, the action taken against Raphaël Glucksmann, targeted by around fifty demonstrators, was claimed by at least one rebellious activist – speaking to LCI – and by a group of young local communists. The European candidate then took the liberty of responding to Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s tweet by emphasizing the fact that his ” own activists » contradicted his version.
