Trailing after 30 seconds of play, OL once again reversed the trend against Monaco. The victory (3-2) rewards a successful performance for Pierre Sage.

After , OL conceded yet another goal from the start…

Pierre Sage: We tried to concede a goal after 20 seconds against , but we didn’t succeed. Monaco scored in a situation that we had worked on, although we wanted to put pressure on the opponent. We lack aggression, we are in between. We knew that she was very comfortable attacking quickly and yet…

The 4-1-4-1 this Sunday evening was satisfactory in the first half. Is this a successful service?

It’s a good satisfaction, because the players managed to adapt well to the training of Monaco. We decided to be high enough, to force them to take risks. We recovered quite a few balloons. It cost us in our second half because we had less energy. But it’s always a good sign to take out players who are tired rather than underperforming. I take my hat off to them because they all gave. We had an interesting offensive game in the first half with a lot of situations. There were some great goals with combined actions. We had three-way relationships offensively. It’s starting to stabilize and if we’re becoming more efficient, that’s a good sign.

OL once again showed resilience after this goal conceded. How to explain it?

There are no miracle cures and perhaps having done it once, we say to ourselves that it is doable again. By scoring the goal after 30 seconds of play, it’s the first time we’ve had so much time to recover. This is not a joke, it is a simple fact. The team was able to equalize, lead and create chances. We failed on an athletic level and the fact of leading set us back even though that was not what we wanted. But there is always a psychological effect. The return of the two wingers has given some pep to the team. We had situations before our 3rd goal. It gives value to our performance because we managed to win (3-2) against a very high quality team.

Taking a new goal at the start of a match or half-time, is that something that upsets you?

It concerns me, but I don’t want to put that in their heads, even if they are going to read with this question. There is something to question in our way of preparing for the match, in our way of warming up, of entering into these matches. There are several parameters and it will be difficult to pinpoint a cause and resolve it definitively, but we must progress in this area.
